Zoom is a cloud video conferencing company that has raised $6.5 million in Series B funding. This new round of funding is led by Horizons Ventures Hong Kong and includes existing investors Patrick Soon-Shiong and Yahoo! co-founder Jerry Yang.
Zoom was founded by former Cisco executive Eric Yuan. The company’s software offers a multi-platform and multi-person video conferencing platform. High quality video is supported on Zoom.
There are over 4,500 business customers and 3 million users that use Zoom, according to TechCrunch. This is up from 1,000 businesses and 400,000 users as of January. The growth has been attributed to the demand for a video conferencing solution that is affordable and available on a wide variety of devices without dropping video quality.
The funding will be used for international expansion and to gain traction in other sectors.
