Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) has jumped six slots over the previous month in terms of the Netflix speed rankings. Now it is the number five major service provider in Netflix’s Monthly ISP Speed Index for March.
Comcast’s Netflix speed comes at a time where the broadband giant and video streaming giant made a controversial deal in February. Netflix agreed to pay Comcast an undisclosed amount of money for a direct interconnection to the broadband company’s pipelines. Even five days after the deal was officially announced, the Netflix streaming quality jumped substantially on Comcast.
Other ISPs that were at the top of the March Speed Index list are also users of Netflix’s Open Connect System like Cablevision and Suddenlink. Netflix’s Open Connect System is an in-house solution that allows for faster streaming speeds through direct connection to Netflix servers.
