CreativeLive is a website that can air continuing-education classes. CreativeLive has raised $21.5 million in Series B funding led by the Social+Capital Partnership and includes previous investor Greylock Partners.
?We?ve really taken our own path,? stated CreativeLive CEO Mika Salmi in an interview with AllThingsD. ?Everything else is on-demand video, or in the MOOC (massive open online course) space.?
CreativeLive’s hit a major milestone recently. Two million students have watched a billion minutes over the past 3 years. CreativeLive reuses the content after it airs. The on-demand access to workshops can cost hundreds of dollars. The live videos and rebroadcasts are free.
CreativeLive previously raised $8 million in funding and reached profitability earlier this year. Now CreativeLive is spending more than it is generating to revamp the platform to expand their business. CreativeLive is adding courses in music and crafting this fall.
