Popular anime streaming website Crunchyroll has acquired video discovery website Redux. Redux helps people find and watch interesting content on TVs. Prior to the acquisition, Redux raised around $8 million in funding since it was founded in 2008. The terms of the deal were undisclosed.
Redux was considering a larger buyout from another company. However, Redux decided to work with Crunchyroll because Redux’s technology could have a larger impact on its content discovery.
Redux will eventually shut down its service and its connected TV apps. Its discovery technology will be integrated into Crunchyroll. Since many new anime series programs are launching every year, the discovery technology could help viewers find anime programs.
