Dell Inc. (NASDAQ:DELL) has been using Twitter to drum up some customer attention to buy some of their computers. It looks like that it has been working for them quite nicely too. Through Twitter marketing itself, Dell made over $6.5 million. The number of tweets sent out by all of Dell’s Twitter accounts were about 1.5 million. Over 100 employees have been sending out tweets for the company according to Manish Mehta, VP of Dell?s online division.
Surely the $6.5 million is only a mere fraction of the company’s $61.1 billion in revenues, but the company sees social media as being a vibrant channel to communicate with customers.
?It?s a very vibrant channel for us and it?s growing aggressively,? stated Mehta in an interview. ?It?s not just our reach and growth that has progressed, it?s that it?s happening globally.?
