Dell has created a $300 million venture fund that will emphasize on promoting the development of technologies that is related to their product portfolio. The fund will invest in companies in the early stage and will focus primarily on cloud computing, data, and security.
Dell is expecting this venture fund to help them stay ahead of the technology curve. Many of Dell’s recent acquisitions have been focused on the aforementioned industries. This news comes on the heels of Dell going private as part of a $24.9 billion buyout deal from founder Michael Dell and private equity firm Silver Lake Partners.
Dell Ventures will work with venture capitalists to invest in the startups. At the conference where Dell announced Dell Ventures, the company also said that they have set up cloud partnerships with Microsoft and Google.
