Dering Hall Raises $1.4 Million From Lerer, Softbank, Hearst, And Other Investors

Based in New York City, Dering Hall, is a digital platform company that focuses on home design.  Dering Hall has raised $1.4 million in a new round of venture capital funding.  Investors in the seed round include Lerer Ventures, Softbank Capital, Hearst Corporation, and several other investors.

Founded in October 2011, Dering Hall has around 10 employees.  The company was co-founded by Steven Gambrel and is led by CEO Peter Sallick.  Sallick is known for leading the fixtures retail company Waterworks.  Gambrel is a well-known interior designer.

?Dering Hall combines the best of design with all that technology has to offer consumers and those in the design community. We?re excited that our investment will help fuel its continued across-the-board expansion and help further position the site as unique in the industry,? said the company in a statement.

Dering Hall is essentially an online marketplace for interior designers, architects, artisans, and design galleries.  Their work can be showcased and sold through the marketplace.  There are around 300 designers and brands registered on Dering Hall.  Dering Hall can also be used for design editorials and event management.

Dering Hall plans on using the funding to expand their designer and customer reach.  They will also build out new products.
