Detroit Based Software Company Acquiring Web App Company Gomez For $295 Million

Posted Oct 7, 2009

Detroit-based software company Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ:CPWR) is buying Gomez, a web applications company. The deal is expected to close at the end of November this year. Gomez has 272 employees and was founded in 1997. Gomez is based in Lexington, Massachusetts and the revenue in 2008 was $47 million.

Companies such as Yahoo! and Best Buy use Gomez software to test their websites. Gomez had filed for an IPO last year. Bob Paul, the President and COO of Compuware said that the merger would help the Detroit software company better serve business and IT companies that would like to get into the Internet applications market. Gomez has about 2,500 customers. Almost all of Gomez’s current employees will become Compuware employees.
