Digital Entertainment Company Yekra Raises $3 Million

Yekra is a digital entertainment distribution company that has raised $3 million in a new round of funding. The lead investor in this round was Las Vegas based angel investor Maurice Gallagher.  Other investors that participated in this round includes Bray Capital, Shay O’Brien, and Michael Rogers.

The company is focused on providing studios with a way to distribute DRM content without the hassles.  The movies will have copyright protections, but will still be viewable on the desktop, smartphones, tablets, and connected TVs.

“We want to bring a new technology to market that sits at the nexus of profitable premium content and on-demand, convenient access for any connected viewer,” stated Yekra President Lee Waterworth. “Today we pioneer the first system that both protects the content it distributes and makes it accessible to anyone — anywhere — with the capability to generate revenue on a cost-effective basis from day one.”

Yekra’s flagship service is called AffiliateConnect.  AffiliateConnect is a patent-pending services that is used by producers and studios to distribute content.  Yekra lets the distributors set the exclusivity rights period for a for a movie and set up distribution to platforms like Hulu Plus and Netflix.  Yekra also offers the ability to help producers determine how a film should be distributed based on the subject and audience.
