Dish Network and Disney has confirmed that they have reached a retransmission agreement on Monday. The agreement forces Dish to turn off automated ad skipping for ABC shows, but it gives Dish the rights to include ABC and ESPN programming ?as part of an Internet delivered, IP-based multichannel offering.?
There were rumors that Dish was going to launch an Internet TV service for a while now so that it could reach customers that do not have satellite TV.
Dish already runs an Internet-based subscription service called DishWorld, which is popular in India, Vietnam, China, and other countries that targets expats. Dish has been watching DishWorld closely for future venture ideas.
