Yesterday, Apple announced iOS 8 at the Worldwide Developers Conference. One of the features that was not mentioned during the keynote speeches is that DuckDuckGo will be a search option in the Safari mobile web browser. This could potentially cause DuckDuckGo’s search marketshare to jump a bit.
Other options for default search include Google, Microsoft Bing, and Yahoo! Many people prefer to use DuckDuckGo because it does not have the same data tracking initiatives that Google has.
Google tracks user search to serve up relevant ads. Based in Pennsylvania, DuckDuckGo was founded in 2008 and raised around $3 million in funding from Union Square Ventures.
