eBay has acquired Svpply, a New York based startup company that tries to replicate the window-shopping experience with a social and curated experience. The acquisition terms were undisclosed. Svpply lets you keep track of products that you like and based on your friends on Twitter and Facebook, the company will show you products they like.
“Today, the company has acquired the innovative team and technology of Svpply.com, a website that unifies theonline retail shopping experience by bringing shoppers, tastemakers and merchants onto a single site,” said eBay in a statement.
Svpply is seeing around 620,000 product views per week and there are around 140,000 registered members. About 700,000 unique visitors comes to browse Svpply’s website every month. The Svpply app has been downloaded around 37,000 times on the iPhone and iPad since it launched in May.
Svpply was co-founded by Vimeo designer Zach Klein. The company has raised $550,000 from Spark Capital, SV Angel, Dennis Crowley, Jason Hirschhorn and Founder Collective.
The Svpply team will work on merchandising, non-search discovery, and browsing in New York.
