eBay has acquired the price prediction company Decide.com. Decide.com will be shutting down on September 30th following the acquisition.
The Decide.com team will be joining eBay to help the company with predictive modeling.
Decide.com co-founder and CTO Oren Etzioni will not be heading to eBay though. Etzioni has lined up a position as the head of Paul Allen’s Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence.
eBay is hoping that Decide’s predictive analytics will help over 25 million eBay sellers make smarter decisions and be more successful. The Decide.com employees will be based out of eBay’s Seattle offices.
Decide.com raised around $17 million in funding from Madrona Venture Group, Maveron Venture Partners, Vulcan Capital, and several angel investors.
