eBay’s Exact iOS App Has A 3D Printer Focus

Posted Jul 15, 2013

Last month, we wrote about how Amazon.com launched a separate section of their website that focuses specifically on 3D printing.  This past week, eBay responded by releasing a dedicated native iOS app called eBay Exact.  The products that are featured on eBay Exact are based on creations built using technology from three top 3D printing companies: MakerBot, Sculpteo, and Hot Pop Factory.  There are around 20 products available to purchase through the app.

You can choose from plastics, woods, and metals and use the engraving feature to further customize a product.  The items ship within 7-14 business days after you pay.  Each of the products are shipped directly from the 3D printer company’s facilities.  Some of the products include jewelry, iPhone cases, and action figures.

?Shoppers today not only want to buy items anytime, anywhere through mobile devices, but they also want to be able to personalize their purchases,? stated eBay’s Vice President of Innovation and New Ventures Steve Yankovich. ?eBay Exact brings these two desires into one shopping experience.?

The app is available on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.  You can download it from the App Store here.
