eBay Marketplaces President Lorrie Norrington is resigning from the company for “personal reasons.” Until a replacement is found, the Marketplaces management team will report to eBay CEO John Donahoe. Norrington has been President of eBay Marketplaces since July 2008.
Before becoming President of eBay Marketplaces, she worked as the President of eBay International. She joined eBay in June 2005 as CEO of Shopping.com. “For personal family reasons, Lorrie made a decision to do what’s best for eBay and for her family, and I respect that,” Donahoe said in a statement. “I wish her the very best and thank her for many contributions to our company and our nearly 92 million active eBay users.”
Norrington was credited for lowering the initial fees charged to sellers, helping buyers find top-rated sellers, and starting the Daily Deals section. eBay launched the Buyer Protection plan in the U.S. and the U.K. of this year, which reimburses a buyer the purchase price and shipping fees if the item is not received as described by the seller.
