eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) has acquired PhiSix Fashion Labs, a computer graphics company that builds 3D models of clothes from photos. The 3D models makes it possible for shoppers to browse for clothes in virtual fitting rooms in different scenarios like using a golf club rather than a dressing room.
Most clothing purchase returns happen because of improper fits and unsatisfying sizes so eBay hopes that this integration will help them reduce returns.
PhiSix’s technology may be implemented into other eBay products like PayPal and eBay Enterprise. PhiSix was founded by CEO Jonathan Su. The three person team will be joining eBay’s Innovation and New Ventures team. The financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.
