eBuddy, a multi-network web messenger announced today that they have raised ?6.5 million in Series B led by Prime Technology Ventures. eBuddy’s biggest competitor is Meebo. However, eBuddy launched in 2003 and Meebo launched in 2005. Both companies have roughly the same amount of traffic at close to 5 million uniques per month.
eBuddy messaging platforms supported includes AIM, MSN, MySpace messaging, Google Talk, and Yahoo! Messenger. Conveniently, eBuddy’s multi-network system works on the Sony Playstation Portable. eBuddy previously raised ?5 million in Series A.
In order to make eBuddy more universal, languages supported include Portuguese (Brazilian), Chinese (Traditional), Chinese (Simplified), Dutch, English, Finnish, French, Hungarian, Italian, Swedish and Vietnamese [Source: eBuddy blog].
