Electronic Focusing Eyeglasses Company PixelOptics Raises $45 Million

PixelOptics has raised $45 million in financing lead by Safeguard Scientifics. The $45 million comprises of $35 million in equity investment and $10 million in venture debt. Other participating venture capital companies that participated in this round include Delphi Ventures, The Carlyle Group, Longitude Capital, and Stark Investments. Horizon Technology Finance provided the venture debt funding.

PixelOptics recently launched a product called emPower. emPower is the world’s first and only electronic focusing eyeglasses. These eyeglasses can be fabricated into all prescriptions with different fashions. This spring emPower will be available in different styles, shapes, sizes, and colors. The glasses are waterproof and shock resistant. It has three operation modes: manual on, manual off, and automatic.
