Snapchat has hired Emily White from Instagram as their new company chief operating officer (COO). White has been the director of mobile partnerships at Facebook since 2011. She was put in charge of Instagram and was responsible for bringing ads to the photo social network last month.
“It happened really quickly, but to have an actual COO role in one of many companies that is disrupting the communications arena is one I could not pass up,” stated White in an interview with AllThingsD. ?I have always been captivated by the creativity that has gone into the product? and I think that Evan has been looking for someone who can help him grow and scale what is already something that has changed a lot of the way people think about the mobile experience.?
She will be working with Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel directly. Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel reportedly recently turned down a $3 billion offer from Facebook. Snapchat is currently hitting around 400 million snaps per day (photos and videos). Snapchat encourages users to send videos and photos to each other, which self-destructs in a few seconds after being viewed.
