It is pretty standard to see people making deals while on the and using social media while phone in Eva Restaurant in West Hollywood.  Now Mark Gold, the chef and owner of the restaurant, has created an initiative that will stop people from texting, tweeting, and Instagramming photos of their meals that they are about to eat.  This will make them simply focus on the elegant dining experience.  Gold is offering customers 5% off if they check their phones at the door.

“For us, it’s really not about people disrupting other guests. Eva is home, and we want to create that environment of home, and we want people to connect again,” he explained. “It’s about two people sitting together and just connecting, without the distraction of a phone, and we’re trying to create an ambience where you come in and really enjoy the experience and the food and the company.”

Gold said that it is not just his customers that are guilty of taking phone calls over a meal at a restaurant.  He said that every table you look at, “it’s a wine glass, the silverware and the cell phone.”
