Eighty-three year old Evelyn Passwall is a woman from Queens, New York that is suing Apple for $1 million. She hit her face against a glass door of an Apple retail store in Long Island. She says that Apple’s glass doors pose a risk to the elderly.
Paswall’s attorney Derek T. Smith said that ?Apple wants to be cool and modern and have the type of architecture that would appeal to the tech crowd, but on the other hand, they have to appreciate the danger that this high-tech modern architecture poses to some people.? Passwall said that she did not realize she was walking into a wall of glass when she approached the store and broke her nose as a result.
Her lawsuit claims: “The defendant was negligent… in allowing a clear, see-through glass wall and/or door to exist without proper warning.” Warning strips have been posted on the glass at Apple’s Manhasset store since then.
