Facebook launches Bolts app to simply development

Posted Jan 30, 2014

Facebook and Parse has developed the Bolts framework, which is a collection of low-level libraries for iOS and Android. This framework is used for making it easier to quickly prototype and develop apps. Bolts does not require developers to create Facebook or Parse apps. You also do not need Facebook or Parse developer accounts.

“The first component in Bolts is ?tasks?, which make organization of complex asynchronous code more manageable. A task is kind of like a JavaScript Promise, but available for iOS and Android. For example, if you have an asynchronous method for saving an object in iOS, you can have it return a BFTask, and handle the result in a continuation block,” stated Facebook in a blog post.

The Bolt framework lets developers manage dependencies and keep track of task statuses. Tasks can also be chained together.
