Facebook has bought out ShareGrove, a startup company that creates private spaces for friends and family to share content. ShareGrove launched at the DEMO conference this past fall and showed a real-time space for only close friends and family to interact.
ShareGrove also used Facebook Connect for one area of the website. ShareGrove can be compared to FriendFeed. It is likely that Facebook wanted to buy the company in order to hire the talent behind ShareGrove. Only one founding team member of ShareGrove will be joining Facebook: Adam Wolff.
?We were going out looking for our next round of funding and then we started having meetings with the corporate development team at Facebook,? said Wolff in an interview with VentureBeat. ?It seemed like there was a lot of synergy there.? [VentureBeat]
