Facebook Buys Out The Team At Spaceport.io

Facebook has hired the team at the company Spaceport.io.  Spaceport’s NEO product is a free cross-platform mobile game framework using ActionScript 3.  Their product will continue to live on independently.  Spaceport co-founder Peter Relan and the YouWeb team will continue working on it.

Spaceport.io co-founder Ben Savage said that their company saw “huge potential” in working closely with Facebook.  They expect to have a large impact in the mobile market. “Facebook will not be acquiring the technology itself, so developers can continue to build and create apps, games, and content unimpeded and with confidence that Spaceport will be around and fully supported for some time to come,” stated Savage.

Investors in Spaceport included BBC Worldwide and YouWeb.  The company also offered a free 2D gaming SDK for iOS and Android along with Cloud LiveTest and Cloud LiveOps service for online testing.
