Facebook has added a donation feature that lets users give cash to non-profits. This feature comes just in time for the holiday season when people are in the giving mood. Facebook partnered with 18 non-profits as part of the launch. Partners include Charity Water, Boys & Girls Club of America, Livestrong Foundation, and the World Wildlife Fund.
Facebook users can donate an embedded “Donate Now” button on each partnering non-profit Brand Page. The button lets users donate preset amounts of $10, $25, $100, or $250 through a credit card, debit card, or PayPal.
Currently only the 18 partner non-profits can set up the donations, but Facebook is hoping to open up the service to others in the next few weeks. Facebook tested this feature in November to allow people to donate to the Red Cross after Typhoon Haiyan.
