Facebook has experienced some major downtime today. Facebook users that attempted to post a status message saw an error message. “There was a problem updating your status. Please try again in a few minutes,” said the error message.
The errors seemed to have been fixed at 10:50AM today. People decided to switch over to Twitter from Facebook to complain about the social network being down. Facebook users that complained used the hashtag #facebookdown. The hashtag became a trending topic.
“Earlier this morning, while performing some network maintenance, we experienced an issue that prevented some users from posting to Facebook for a brief period of time,” stated a Facebook spokesman. “We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100%. We’re sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused.”
Facebook users still had the ability to search through user profiles and play games. But Facebook users were not able to share websites or content with each other. They could not upload photos or create photo albums.
