Facebook has hit a major milestone. On Tuesday, Facebook announced that they have hit 1 million businesses actively advertising on the social network. A majority of these businesses are small.
Dan Levy, Facebook’s director of small business, made the announcement at the company’s offices in New York.
“The feedback we hear from businesses from all over the world is, ‘Just make it simpler,'” said Levy at the event. Facebook said that they are going to splash the number of ad products in half in order to improve the experience for advertisers.
Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg said back in May that there were 16 million small businesses that are actively using Facebook Pages. Many business owners start out as Facebook users at first, then they progress to launching Pages for their businesses on the social network. Shortly after that, they start paying to advertise their business.
