Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is blocked in China, but the social network is considering a sales office in China. Facebook is in negotiations with an office tower to open the office there within the next year. Facebook VP Vaughan Smith acknowledged that the company has a “rapidly growing” business in China at the GMIC conference in Beijing last week.
There are “thousands of developers” using Facebook to reach customers overseas. Opening a sales office in China would be a way to target Chinese businesses that have an international reach.
Facebook would not be the only tech company that is blocked in China that would have an office there. Google has a local presence in China even after its search operations were ceased there.
