Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is rumored to be calling its mobile ad network “Facebook Audience Network” (FAN). The service will soon let advertisers reach people with highly targeted banner advertisements or custom units, according to TechCrunch.
Facebook is expected to announce the new mobile ad network at the f8 developer conference on April 30th. Facebook reportedly started testing the service in January. The ad network could boost sales by giving advertisers a way to distribute their Facebook ads beyond the News Feed to third-party mobile applications.
The Facebook Audience Network will let app developers use a code snippet to replace their existing ad network whether it is Google’s AdMob or Twitter’s MoPub. Facebook will be able to identify the viewer to show the person an ad that matches personal information and interests that are connected from his or her Facebook profile.
