Facebook, the largest social network in the world, has announced that they will be giving retailers feedback on the sales that they are getting through their ads. The new sales tool is currently being tested and is not available for retailers yet. However the company said that the system should be implemented by the end of the month in time for the holiday sales rush.
If retailers are seeing that they are getting a solid return from money spent on Facebook, then they would buy additional advertising inventory on the social network.
The tracking service does not give away any personal information about Facebook users. It will only tell the retailer if a user clicked on their ad and proceeded to buy an item. It will not give any details about who you are.
By having access to this information, retailers will be able to determine who to target with their ads. With sales tracking data, they will know which demographics responded well to their ads.
