Facebook has named Mike Schroepfer as the chief technology officer. This position has been empty for the last nine months. Before becoming the CTO, Schroepfer was the VP of Engineering at Facebook since August 2008.
Schroepfer was a Software Engineer at Puffin Designs from October 1997 and November 1999, then he became a partner at Reactivity Inc. In June 2000, Schroepfer founded a company called CenterRun, which was acquired by Sun Microsystems in November 2003.
Schroepfer became the CTO of Sun’s data center automation division and was VP of Engineering at Mozilla from July 2005 and August 2008. He became the director of engineering at Facebook in July 2008.
Schroepfer studied computer science at Stanford University for his bachelor’s degree in 1997 and master’s degree in 1999.
