Facebook is expecting to spend about $450 million to build a new server data center in North Carolina. This would be the second major data center Facebook announced this year. The first one started construction in Portland, Oregon earlier this year.

Several politicians in North Carolina are taking credit for Facebook’s decision to build the data center in the southern state. Facebook joins Apple as another major tech company that is currently opening a major data center in North Carolina. Apple is spending $1 billion to build a massive data center in North Carolina.
