Facebook has filed a lawsuit against Sanford “Spamford” Wallace along with Adam Arzoomanian and Scott Shaw. These three individuals are being charged for violating the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003. Facebook stated that Wallace spammed Facebook members with wall posts that appeared to be messages from friends, but in actuality they hacked into accounts using phishing techniques.
About three months ago, Facebook won a case against Adam Guerbuez for violating anti-spam laws. Facebook was awarded $873 million for that case. Wallace was previously ordered to pay $230 million to MySpace last May for using malware to promote inappropriate content and gambling websites.
Hats off to Facebook for taking action against spammers.
