Facebook’s newest advertising product is expected to launch on February 29th and a presentation of the new product was leaked on the web yesterday. Facebook is replacing their Classic Premium Ads to new upgraded Premium Ads. According to financial analysts, the Premium Ads is a last-ditch effort on Facebook’s part to meet ad revenue budget goals for the first quarter of the year.
“We?ve confirmed with sources close to the company that Facebook is indeed behind its projections for ad revenue for the first quarter,” stated financial data company PrivCo CEO Sam Hamadeh in an interview with VentureBeat. “It certainly doesn?t look good for Facebook frankly.” The new ad formats will increase advertiser engagement rates by about 40%. Facebook is choosing to increase their ad intrusiveness and frequency to paid their numbers short-term in preparation for their IPO and first quarter results post-IPO trading said PrivCo in a blog post.
