FCC To Enforce That Selling GPS Jammers Is Illegal

Posted Mar 11, 2011

The Federal Communications Commission announced in February that they are going to enforce the prevention of GPS and cellphone jammer sales. Marketing and use of cellphone and GPS jammers is illegal as it is a safety risk. They may stop someone in need of making a call to 911 from finding out your location. The FCC launched a Jammer Enforcement page to report people that use jammers. Car thieves use GPS jammers to help them getaway. Jammers transmit low-power signals to create signal noise and causes GPS receives to think that satellites are not available. [NaviGadget]
