Feedly Gets 500,000 More Users Following News About Google Reader Shutdown

Posted Mar 17, 2013

Feedly is an RSS application for smartphones, tablets, and Google Chrome.  Feedly added 500,000 new users in the 2 days after Google announced that they would be shutting down Google Reader.

“We have been working on a project called Normandy, which is a Feedly clone of the Google Reader API – running on Google App Engine,” stated Feedly in their blog. “When Google Reader shuts down, Feedly will seamlessly transition to the Normandy back end. So if you are a Google Reader user and using Feedly, you are covered: the transition will be seamless.”

Feedly’s RSS reader service syncs between the mobile devices and browsers.  It works on Android, iOS, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari.
