First Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ:FSLR) shares skyrocketed today after the company reported net sales of as much as $4 billion this year. The company is expecting full-year earnings at between $2.20 and $2.60 per share and between $4.50 and $6 in 2015. In 2013, First Solar reported earnings of $3.70 per share and sales of $3.3 billion.
First Solar and General Electric are partnering to create a utility-scale solar power plant design with First Solar’s thin-film solar modules and GE transformer systems. First Solar also announced a 20-year power purchase contract with Jordan for building a 53 megawatt solar power plant. First Solar will be Jordan’s largest solar installation and represents around 1% of the overall generation capacity in the country.
