FitBark Is An Activity Tracker For Dogs

Posted Jun 24, 2013

The FitBark is a gadget for dogs that tracks whether your dog is still active.  It is like a “FitBit for dogs.”  Your dog will be given a daily BarkScore for the day based on their health.

Let’s say that you are on a vacation and you hire a dog-sitter.  The FitBark will show you how long your dog-sitter took your pet out for a walk and when.  The data was transferred from the FitBark to the cloud through the smartphone or a “home base” station placed in your home.

If your dog gets sick, you can give your vet the details about it’s activity like how long it slept.

The FitBark was announced in April 2013 and it has received a number of requests from dog walkers, vets, and rescues.

FitBark measures the minimum amount of activity that your dog needs based on size, age, and weight.  As the company gathers more data, they will be able to identify trends based on historical information.

FitBark attempted to raise funding from Kickstarter between April 25th and May 31st.  Around 167 backers pledged $52,251 out of a $100,000 goal. The company has plans to re-launch on Kickstarter soon.
