Flashnotes is a Boston based startup that runs a marketplace for students to sell and buy study materials for courses that they take. Flashnotes has acquired a smaller competitor called Moolaguides. Moolaguides was founded by Florida State University senior Thomas Brady. Flashnotes also acquired a West Coast based rival called NoteUtopia last July. Flashnotes is expected to expand its reach to around 300 universities by the end of the year.
“Moolaguides was created with a similar vision to help college students earn money ? and to get better grades, and Tom has developed an impressive business,” stated Michael Matousek, founder & CEO of Flashnotes. “We’re excited by this opportunity to expand our student-to-student marketplace, particularly at FSU, and we think Moolaguides users will really benefit from our expanded selection of study materials and payment distribution for student sellers.”
The terms of the deal were undisclosed. Moolaguides has generated a total of around $400,000 in revenues thus far. It has paid out around $375,000 to students on its platform thus far.
