Flickr co-founder Caterina Fake launches Findery app

Posted Mar 6, 2014

Flickr co-founder Caterina Fake has launched a new project called Findery. Findery is a free iPhone app that posts tens of thousands of notes on historical events globally based on precise locations like a personal tour guide. For example, you could view significant events that happened as you walk around different streets.

Fake helped start Flickr in 2002 before it was acquired by Yahoo! for around $35 million in 2005. After that, Fake co-founded Hunch with Chris Dixon and sold it to eBay for $80 million in 2011.

Findery will depend on contributors to “leave notes” about events that took place throughout a city. Notes are usually longer than tweets, but shorted than blog posts. Authors can put their photos with the notes.

You can download the Findery app from here.
