Flickr has announced a new service that lets you turn your photos into a photo book. Flickr will face plenty of competition against companies like Shutterfly, Mixbook, Snapfish, Picaboo, Lulu, Blurby, Tinyprints, etc.
The new Flickr photo book service is called Flickr Photo Books and it is currently only available for U.S. users. It will be rolled out internationally soon. Flickr previously worked with Snapfish for printing services including photo books.
“Our intelligent tools analyze, crop, position, and rearrange your photos to look their best. Or course, customization is easy with our Page tools. Slide the scale to zoom in or out, hold and drag the photo to reposition, or click the arrows in the upper right hand corner to switch between full bleed and margin,” said Flickr in a blog post.
You can build a Flickr Photo Book by hovering over a photo set and clicking on the book icon after it appears. Flickr has several tools that lets you control the design. The basic Photo Book has 20 pages of premium white proPhoto paper with a lustre finish, according to Digital Trends. The basic hard book has dimensions of 11 x 8.5 inches and costs $35. To buy additional pages, it will cost $0.50 each. Books can be made up to 240 pages.
