Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) has hit a major milestone. The company has announced that customers behind their electric vehicles have hit 30 million driving miles powered by electricity. Ford said that all of these electric driving miles have prevented 1.2 million kilograms of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere.
Some of Ford’s electric vehicles includes the all-electric 2014 Focus and the Fusion Energi. Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) said that they had the best August U.S. electric vehicle sales ever with 8,292 vehicles sold, which is up 288% from the same period a year ago.
Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) said that they are planning to install electric vehicle charging stations at over 50 of their company offices, product development campuses, and manufacturing facilities. The installation will be taking place later this year.
?Ford?s commitment to sustainability extends beyond our fuel-efficient vehicles to include our daily workplace,? stated Mike Tinskey, Ford’s global director of Vehicle Electrification and Infrastructure. ?We know that a growing electrified vehicle infrastructure is key to making plug-in vehicles a viable option for more consumers. Ford is committed to doing our part to help grow that infrastructure.?
The service will be free to employees for the first four hours. The EV chargers will be networked together so that Ford can gather details on electrified vehicle use.
Ford currently has over 1,700 charging stations at Ford dealerships and company facilities in North America. The workplace chargers will add around 200 more.
