Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) is grabbing aggregate data from the MyFord Mobile app. The app shows that customers drive over 8,400 electric-only miles every hour and about 203,000 electric-only miles per day. This is enough to travel around the earth’s equator nearly eight times.
MyFord Mobile is available on Ford plug-in hybrids, Fusion Energi, Focus Electric, and C-Max Energi. The number of all-electric trips increases by nearly 50% after the first 6 months of ownership due to improved driving habits through the use of exclusive features and rapid growing infrastructure.
The electric-only miles is expected to continue growing as the driving habits evolve for new hybrid owners through the use of MyFord Mobile, SmartGauge, and EcoGuide. After six months, around 30% of all trips are gas-free compared to 20% at the beginning of vehicle ownership.
“The aggregate data collected through MyFord Mobile take the guesswork out of trying to figure out what we need to do when it comes to making adjustments and continuing to improve,” stated Ford global director of vehicle electrification Mike Tinskey. “Ford is not being forced to use projections because the company has real customer data to rely on and use for guidance.”
MyFord Mobile is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Ford does not collect information on drivers individually. They aggregate group data.
