Ford Motor Company will be sending dealers a software upgrade that solves a fire concern which involved 65,000 2013 Escapes and around 15,800 2013 Ford Fusions being recalled in the United States. “That will resolve the issue,” stated Ford Group vice president of global product development Raj Nair in a phone interview with The New York Times.
The vehicles that were recalled have the 1.6 liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine. The Escapes and Fusions that have a 2-liter and a 2.5-liter engine were not affected by the recall. Nair said that the software change would ensure the proper circulation of coolant and it would prevent severe overheating.
The improper circulation causes fluids like oil, coolant, or gas to leak, which would cause fires if they came into contact with a hot engine. Ford recalled vehicles three times this year.
