Ford Motor Company has sold around 2.2 million cars in 2012 according to a statement from the company this weekend. Even though the company’s sales are going great, the company is still losing market share. This year is the second year in a row that Ford’s sales passed two million, but their sales projection of 2.2 million is still short of the auto industry’s gains this year. Analysts are expecting the industry as a whole to be higher than 13% for 2012.
Ford is simply not able to keep up with the demand from consumers. They were not able to build enough cars and trucks to satisfy the demand from consumers. Consumers are also buying less pickup trucks this year than they have in the past. Ford sold slight under 2.1 million cars in 2011 under their primary brand. But when adding the Lincoln brand to the numbers, Ford sold over 2.1 million.
