Mike Brown is a former Facebook corporate development executive that was fired for buying stock on secondary markets. Now he has a similar job at Twitter. Brown will be reporting to Twitter VP of business development Kevin Thau.
Brown had bought Facebook shares on the secondary market so he could take a bigger stake in the company that he worked at. Facebook had a policy against insider trading by employees so Brown was fired. Brown said he did not have knowledge about the incoming $1.5 billion round that came in from Goldman Sachs, which happened around the same time he bought the shares on the secondary market.
When Brown was fired, Facebook hired Amin Zoufonoun from Google. Brown used to work at Foundation Capital and Partech International before joining Facebook.
