Apple and Microsoft is a rivalry like Coca-Cola and Pepsi. The two companies have many competing products and both are tech giants. Apple’s Mac OS X and Microsoft’s Windows operating systems are a major example of competing products.
Apple delivered a blow to Microsoft by making OS X Mavericks operating system, iWork entertainment apps, and iLife productivity apps. In the last company event, Apple poked fun at how expensive Windows software is.
However, Microsoft corporate vice president of communications Frank Shaw posted a message on the blog that said: ?When I see Apple drop the price of their struggling, lightweight productivity apps, I don?t see a shot across our bow, I see an attempt to play catch up.?
“Since iWork has never gotten much traction, and was already priced like an afterthought, it?s hardly that surprising or significant a move. And it doesn?t change the fact that it?s much harder to get work done on a device that lacks precision input and a desktop for true side-by-side multitasking,” added Shaw.
Shaw insisted that the Microsoft Surface is better than the iPad. The Surface costs less than the iPad and has more high-tech hardware. Microsoft has produced many TV ads that make fun of the iPad too. Some of the ads use a Siri-like voice that talks about how cool the Surface is. However, Apple’s software seems to resonate with consumers and the iPad is selling by the tens of millions.
