The GameStick Microconsole Has Been Delayed Until November 14th

The GameStick, a microconsole powered by Android, is going to be released on November 15th.  This means that it will be sold head-to-head with the Sony PlayStation 4.  The two-inch GameStick microconsole costs only $80 and started to ship in late August.  The GameStick was initially set to publicly launch on September 30th, but was delayed to October 29th.

“The date was pushed back to the 15th for no other reason than production and logistics delays,” stated PlayJam chief marketing officer Anthony Johnson. “GameStop’s shipment landed in Texas this morning awaiting customs clearance so it is well on its way.”

People that receive the GameStick have reported several issues such as overheating, user interface freezes, and WiFI errors.  The UI freeze issue has been fixed, but the Internet connectivity is due to the system being placed too closely to other WiFi or Bluetooth devices.  The GameStick microconsole overheats when downloading and playing games.  Under normal use, the average external temperature of the micro-console is between 40° and 56° Celsius.

The GameStick has an ARM Cortex A9 CPU, Mali 400 GPU, 8GB of internal flash memory storage, and microSD slot.  The GameStick also has built-in WiFi, 1080p playback, Bluetooth 4.0, and parental controls.  The GameStick also has Bluetooth control, a power adapter, and several other cables to run the system.  You can order the GameStick from Amazon and GameStop along with other retail companies.
