Gargen Maguerian is a Pennsylvania resident that has filed a lawsuit against Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) in a San Francisco U.S. District Court. Garen said that Apple deliberately targets kids with free applications that have appealing in app purchases. This ends up costing parents a lot of money.
For example Smurf’s Village on the iPad can charge an additional $99.99 for extra virtual goods to help get further in the game. ?These games are highly addictive, designed deliberately so, and tend to compel children playing them to purchase large quantities of Game Currency, amounting to as much as $100 per purchase or more,? states the lawsuit.
?Apple has not offered to return to its account holders any of the millions of dollars it received from their minor children?s purchases,? added Maguerian in the class action lawsuit. Maguerian is seeking refunds, interest, damages, and legal fees from Apple.
