GM Begins Construction On Their First Electric Motor Plant

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) started construction on their first electric motor plant at the GM Baltimore Operations Complex. The plant is expected to open in 2013. The complex will produce a two-mode hybrid and Heavy Duty transmissions. This new factory will employ about 190 people. The plant is receiving a $129 million investment from GM, $105 million from the Department of Energy, and $10.5 million from the local country and state governments.
